Cagri graduated from Bornova Anadolu Lisesi in Izmir and Marmara University School of Medicine, Istanbul, Turkey. Being interested in preclinical neuroscience, he did elective internship studies at Molecular Misreading Research Group at the Netherlands Institute for Brain Research (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) and in Moore Research Unit at RIKEN Brain Science Institute (Wako-shi, Saitama, Japan). Before coming back to Moore Lab, he worked in the Epilepsy Research Laboratory at the A. I. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences (Kuopio, Finland) for three years. He has done stereotactic operations on rats, applied immunohistochemistry on rodent and human brain sections, and cultured primary hippocampal cells.
In Moore Lab, Cagri is investigating the differences between intrinsic and extrinsic factors patterning dendrite morphology. Cagri also likes museums and documentaries.
